What to Do with Leftover Resin

(Easy Beginner Earrings)

If you work with resin, you know the moment.

You’ve poured your main project… and there’s still a little left in the cup.

Not enough for another full piece.
Too much to just throw away.

Instead of wasting it, I turned my leftover resin from a pen project into a simple pair of earrings — and they’re perfect for beginners.

Helping people build creative confidence — one experiment at a time.

What you’ll need for this project

Before we dive in, here’s a quick look at the basic supplies used to make these resin earrings. This gives you a sense of what’s involved so you can decide if this is a good fit for your craft table today.

  • Leftover mixed resin
  • Small silicone earring mold
  • Earring posts and back
  • Mixing cup + stir stick

Quick tip (optional):

Tip: I keep these molds on my work desk, so when there is ever left over resin, it doesnt go to waste.

Why This Is a Great Beginner Resin Idea

This project is ideal if you’re new to resin because:

  • It uses leftover material (no pressure)
  • It’s small and manageable
  • It lets you practice pouring and curing
  • It gives you a finished, wearable result

Low risk.
High satisfaction.

Sometimes the “extra” resin ends up becoming your favorite piece.

How I Made Them

  1. After finishing my resin pen pour, I checked how much resin was left.
  2. Instead of tossing it, I poured it into a small silicone earring mold.
  3. I let it cure completely (don’t rush this part).
  4. Once cured, I popped them out and attached the hooks using jump rings.

That’s it. Feel free to watch an earring reveal on my Youtube.

Simple.
Efficient.
Finished.

Pro Tip: Packaging Levels It Up Instantly

Here’s something I always tell people when I teach:

Nice packaging instantly elevates even the simplest project.

These earrings were made from leftover resin — but once they’re mounted on clean backing cards and wrapped neatly, they feel polished and intentional.

Packaging doesn’t have to be expensive.

Simple backing cards and protective wrap:

  • Make your project feel complete
  • Protect your work
  • Make it gift-ready
  • Increase perceived value
  • Boost your confidence when sharing it

You don’t have to sell your work to care about presentation.

Taking two extra minutes to package it well can completely change how you see your own creation.

And that shift builds confidence.
